Curriculum

Our Curriculum Vision.

We believe that all children at Our Lady’s have the entitlement to a broad, balanced, creative and coherent curriculum which prepares them for the opportunities and challenges of the 21st Century.  Our vision is that pupils are exposed to a range of curriculum topics that develop their understanding of the world and become well rounded, culturally literate young people with a thirst for learning.

Our curriculum is designed in a way that is fully inclusive to all children including, those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. The Equalities Act 2010 states that school should not victimise or discriminate in the way that it provides education for its pupils. We ensure that our curriculum is accessible to all pupils through high quality teaching as well as adapting teaching and learning to meet the to meet the  individual needs of all pupils. We pride ourselves on educating our pupils on the importance of not making judgements based around the protected characteristics identified in The Equalities Act 2010 such as, gender, race, ethnicity and sexual orientation.

In order for children to learn to think for themselves and for learning to become truly embedded we ensure the correct balance between knowledge and skills. It is important that children become responsible for their own learning enabling them to plan and show initiative; persevere and have a commitment to self-improvement.

Our curriculum aims to:
